New Zealand and Australia - 16 Days / 15 Nights


Day 1: Auckland
12.00 Arrival in Auckland. Meeting at the Airport with Green Lite Travel Representative. Transfer from the airport to the hotel, followed by a short rest.
15.00 Auckland City tour ‘Auckland by Day’, showing you as much of Auckland as possible.
20.00 Free Leisure time at the hotel.

Day 2: Auckland – Waitomo or Hobbiton - Rotorua
08.00 Rental Car pick-up with the help of your Green Lite Travel Guide.
08.30 Departure from Auckland, driving through the unique farming region of Waikato.
11.30 Arrival at Waitomo Caves. Guided exploration of the Caves, followed by an underground river cruise where thousands of Glow Worms (which are found in only three places on earth) light the ceiling above you.

For those who would like to see more, there are two additional options available.
The first option is to stay at Waitomo and try black water rafting. This involves swimming on pontoons down a deep and dark underground river system.
The second option is to drive to Hobbiton, one of the more famous filming locations for the Lord of the Rings movies.
Both these options add approximately 4 hours to your travel schedule.

15.00 Arrival in Rotorua., followed by free leisure time.
17.00 There is the option of trying out the Polynesian spa pools, naturally heated waters rich in healthy and relaxing minerals.

Day 3: Rotorua Exploration
08.00 Your self drive Rotorua Exploration begins with entry into the Whakarewarewa thermal reserve, a truly spectacular, almost lunar landscape of endless geothermal activity, including geysers and boiling mud pools.
11.00 Next enjoy the Live Sheep and Farm show, where you will get a real taste of Rural New Zealand.
13.00 Entry into Rainbow Springs, where you will see numerous native New Zealand Animals, including the Kiwi and the Tuatara.
18.00 Transfer from your hotel to the Tamaki Maori Village, where you will get a taste of the traditional Maori way of life, as well as eating a traditionally cooked Maori dinner.
Late evening return to the hotel.

Day 4: Rotorua – Queenstown
Morning free leisure time in Rotorua
12.00 Transfer to the Airport.
13.30 Departure from Rotorua.
16.30 Arrival in Queenstown, transfer to the hotel, followed by free leisure time.

Day 5: Queenstown – Milford Sound – Queenstown
07.00 Departure from Queenstown, driving via Te Anau and next to the beautiful lake of the same name, along the Kingston, Eglinton and Hollyford Valleys and through the historic Homer Tunnel to Milford Sound.
13.30 Cruise on the Milford Sound, with the option of a lunch onboard.
15.00 Return drive to Queenstown, with endless stunning scenery along the way.
Evening return to Queenstown.

Day 6: Queenstown – Mt Cook - Christchurch
08.00 Departure from Queenstown, driving along the Southern alps towards Christchurch. On the way you will get stunning views of New Zealand’s highest Mountain, Mt Cook on the far shores of Lake Pukaki.

For the more adventurous, there is the option of a helicopter flight for close up views of Mt Cook, as well as a landing on an alpine glacier. Allow an additional hour for this attraction.

19.00 Approximate arrival in Christchurch, followed by free leisure time.

Day 7: Christchurch – Auckland
08.00 Self Drive Tour of Christchurch. Drive up to the Cashmere Hill lookout for beautiful views of Christchurch and the vast expanses of the Canterbury Plains. Stroll through the lovely English style streets and boutiques of the city centre, and catch the famous Christchurch Tram to the Botanical Gardens. For a true Christchurch experience, we recommend a ride on the Christchurch river Gondola.
16.00 Drive to the Airport and rental car return.
18.40 Departure from Christchurch
20.00 Arrival in Auckland, where you will be met by a Green Lite Travel Guide who will transfer you to the hotel.

Day 8: Auckland – Melbourne
05.00 Transfer to the Airport by Green Lite Travel Guide.
07.40 Departure from New Zealand.
09.00 Arrival in Melbourne, transfer to the hotel by pre-arranged shuttle.
Free leisure time to stroll around Melbourne.

Our recommendation is a river cruise on the Melbourne River, as well as a visit to the Melbourne Museum.

Day 9: Melbourne – Alice Springs
06.30 Transfer to the airport by pre-arranged shuttle.
08.45 Departure from Melbourne
11.10 Arrival in Alice Springs, with pre-arranged shuttle transfer to the hotel.
14.00 Bus pick up from the hotel followed by a tour of the area, including panoramic views from ANZAC Hill, as well as well known attractions including the Telegraphic Station, School on the Air and the Royal Flying Doctors’ Service.
18.00 Return to the hotel followed by free leisure time.

Day 10: Alice Springs
07.40 Pick up from the hotel, driving by 4x4 through the West MacDonnell Ranges to an isolated Aboriginal Village. Visit to the Aboriginal Australia Harmannsburg, where you will learn about the rich aboriginal culture and history. You will also get the opportunity to see beautiful aboriginal rock art, as well as the artworks of world famous Aboriginal artists. Lunch at Finke George National Park is also included in the tour.
18.00 Return to Alice Springs, followed by free leisure time.

Day 11: Alice Springs – Ayers Rock
07.30 Bus pick up from the hotel, driving across the vastness of the red Australian desert, on your way to Ayers Rock.
13.00 Arrival at Ayers Rock and transfer to the hotel.
14.40 Pick up from the hotel, followed by a tour around Ayers Rock with a guide. The tour concludes with a stunning sunset over Ayers Rock and the red desert.

Day 12: Uluru – Kata Tjuta
During the early hours of the morning you will be picked up by bus and taken to see the sunrise from a beautiful vantage point at Ayers Rock. There is also the possibility of climbing to the top of the rock. You will come into contact with the Anangu tribe, where you will learn about the Aboriginal way of life.
10.00 Return to the hotel for check out, followed by free leisure.
14.15 Pick up from Ayers Rock, driving through Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park to the famous natural rock formations called the Olgas. Afternoon return to the resort.

For a unique experience we recommend dining under the stars in the middle of the desert with enchanting aboriginal music and full catering service.

Day 13: Ayers Rock – Cairns
08.00 Pre-arranged transfer to the airport
10.00 Departure from Ayers Rock
13.00 Arrival in Cairns.
Free leisure time to relax or walk around the city.

Day 14: Cairns – Green Island – Cairns
07.30 Pick up from the hotel for all day tour to Green Island. The cruise is on a catamaran with stunning coral reefs below the surface of the water, and golden sand beaches on the island. This is truly a great way to experience tropical North Queensland. Evening return to the hotel followed by free leisure time.

Day 15: Cairns – Sydney
Free leisure time in the morning
12.00 Pre-arranged transfer to the airport.
13.30 Departure from Cairns.
15.00 Arrival in Sydney, followed by transport to the hotel.
Evening free leisure time to relax or walk around the city centre hunting for souvenirs.

Day 16: Sydney
Morning free leisure time
13.00 Pre-arranged transfer to the airport
15.00 Departure from Sydney
