Day 1: Arrival in Auckland, New Zealand
Meeting at Auckland International Airport with
Green Lite Travel Representative, transfer to
hotel. ‘Auckland by Day’ City tour with an
English speaking guide. See the largest marina
in the southern hemisphere, panoramic views from
the Sky Tower, a walk along Mission Bay and
drive to the summit of a volcano near the centre
of the city. In the evening enjoy a nice walk
along one of many historic streets of Auckland.
Day 2: Journey North to Paihia
Morning meeting with GLT representative at the
hotel. This is the moment when we will pass on
all essential information and travel advice to
you, including maps and suggestions of what else
to do and see during your journey. Transfer to
bus terminal. Journey through Northland, a place
of much history and conflict. Arrival in Paihia
followed by a cruise on the Bay of 44 Islands.
If you are lucky you may see dolphins.
Day 3: Free time in Northland
Relax on a local beach or browse the many shops
and boutiques of Paihia and surrounding areas.
There is the option to take a ferry to Russell,
New Zealand’s first capital. Alternatively we
recommend an all day journey to Cape Reinga, New
Zealand’s most northern point. Evening return to
hotel.
Day 4: Return journey to Auckland
Return from Paihia to Auckland. Free time in
Auckland on arrival.
Day 5: Departure from Auckland via Waitomo to
Rotorua
Travel from Auckland via the Bombay Hills and
Meremere to Waitomo. Entry into the 30 million
year old Waitomo Caves where you will see unique
glow worms as you ride a boat on an underground
river. Continued travel to Rotorua. Arrival in
Rotorua followed by free time.
Day 6: Rotorua exploration
Sightseeing of Rotorua and surrounding areas
including boiling mud pools and geysers at
Whakarewarewa Thermal reserve. Also you will get
to see New Zealand’s national bird, the Kiwi as
well as a farm show where New Zealand farmers
show their skills. Next explore the Rotorua Lake
front with Ohinemutu Church and Government
gardens. In the evening you will be taken from
your hotel to a Maori Village to see a
traditional show and enjoy a traditionally
cooked dinner.
Day 7: Drive via Tongariro National Park to
Wellington
Departure from Rotorua stopping in the city of
Taupo to enjoy the many attractions on offer.
Next continue your journey via Tongariro
National Park, with three active Volcanoes,
Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu. Arrival in
Wellington and transfer to the hotel.
Day 8: Ferry crossing to the South Island,
journey continues to Christchurch
Morning transfer to the ferry terminal. The
ferry takes approximately 3 hours to Cross the
Cook Strait. Arrival in Picton and registration
for Tranz Scenic Train. Train Ride down the
beautiful Kaikoura Coast, where you can see wild
seals sunbathing on the rocks. Evening arrival
in Christchurch, transfer to the hotel.
Day 9: Drive from Christchurch to Queenstown
Departure from Christchurch by bus, via the
Canterbury Plains to Lake Tekapo. See the famous
stone church and a statue of the farmers best
friend, a dog. Continued drive to Lake Pukaki,
form which you can see New Zealand’s tallest
mountain, Aoraki Mt Cook. Afternoon arrival in
Queenstown.
Day 10: Fiordland National Park with Milford
Sound Cruise
Travel via Lake Wakatipu, Kingston and Te Anau
to Fiordland National Park. The journey
continues via Kingston and Hollyford Valleys,
the Homer Tunnel and Cleddau Canyon to Milford
Sound. Cruise on the Milford Sound, followed by
a return to Queenstown.
Day 11: Free Leisure time in Queenstown
All day relaxing in Queenstown and surrounding
areas. We recommend a visit to the historic
mining town of Arrowntown, Bungy Jumping or a
steam boat cruise on Lake Wakatipu. In the
evening you have a dinner reservation on Bob’s
Peak, which you can only reach by Gondola. Enjoy
stunning views of Queenstown from your table.
Day 12: Departure from Queenstown up the West
Coast to Glacier Country
Travel via Wanaka and Haast Pass to Westland
World Heritage Park with Glaciers and lush green
native bush. There is the opportunity to walk
very close to a glacier, and for the more
adventurous there are helicopter services even
landing on the glacier. Transfer to hotel.
Day 13: Crossing the Arthur’s Pass returning to
Christchurch
Travel via the West Coast to Greymouth, an old
mining and timber town. Registration for Tranz
Alpine Train. Crossing the Arthur’s Pass you
will return to Christchurch. We recommend a
visit to the Botanical Gardens, Canterbury
Museum, as well as taking a ride on board a
historic tram in the city centre.
Day 14: Departure from New Zealand
Walking city tour and shopping. Transfer to the
airport. Your tour concludes.
